Events in July

The following can be booked with your accommodation - cost per event is £3 per adult and £2 for children. We will add the cost to the price of your accommodation and pay the Highland Council on your behalf. If the event does not go ahead, your monies will be refunded.

Friday 2nd - Strathy Point Sea Watch Look for whales and dolphins at Strathy Point. Telescopes provided. Bring binoculars. Very weather dependent.

Tuesday 6th - Duncansby Head Seabird Cities. Learn about the amazing seabird cities while taking in the dramatic coastal scenery with sea stacks & sheer sided geos.

Tuesday 6th - Meet the Gruffalo Join the story and meet the fabulous creatures who inhabit Dunnet Forest. For kids 7 years and under. Two separate sessions will be run.

Wednesday 7th - Beginners Bird Watch Not good on your birds? Join the Ranger to view and learn about local birds around Thurso. Telescope provided, bring binoculars. Evening event.

Wednesday 7th - Coastal treasures of the Wick coast. Experience the sights, smells of an amazing seabird colony set amidst the beauty of the East Caithness Coast. Discover sea stacks, natural arch & caves along the way.

Thursday 8th - Portskerra Sea Watch. Bring binoculars and look for whales, dolphins and porpoises with the ranger. Telescopes provided. Very weather dependent.

Tuesday 13th - Mini Beast Fun. Join the rangers and hunt for mini beasts in the forest and ponds. Nets provided. Suit 8-12 years old younger kids must be accompanied.

Tuesday 20th - Flying High. Have fun with the Rangers building your own kite out of everyday items. Take it home and watch it soar. Suit 8-12 years.

Tuesday 27th - Whale of a Time. Bring the whole family and your spades to help build a huge magical sand whale. Let’s see how big and decorative we can make it.
